The Tone:
This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position at Amentum, an organization involved in managing and processing claims for government programs. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely review of claims, determining eligibility, and facilitating compensation, specifically focusing on Eligibility Decisions and Non-Economic Loss Awards. The individual in this position plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of the claims process by meticulously analyzing submissions and communicating effectively with claimants and their legal representatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Claim Eligibility Review: Perform the initial review of claims to determine eligibility and compensation, with a primary focus on Eligibility Decisions and Non-Economic Loss Awards.
• Legal Sufficiency Analysis: Analyze information submitted by claimants and review claim file contents to ascertain legal sufficiency and identify missing documentation.
• Claim Perfection & Resolution: Identify areas requiring further review, formulate requests for additional submissions from claimants or counsel, and research mechanisms to perfect insufficient claims.
• Stakeholder Communication: Proactively communicate with claimants and their attorneys to clarify issues, ensure complete information is provided, and offer guidance on VCF policies and procedures.
• Recommendation Drafting: Draft well-written and complete recommendations for the Special Master’s consideration regarding the appropriate disposition of claims, including eligibility and non-economic loss awards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a Law degree, or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school having completed at least one year of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or education.
• Experience: Experience in reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing claims, with the ability to apply established criteria to determine legal sufficiency and organize documents for supporting evidence. Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
• Skills: Strong organizational, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience working with complex statutory and regulatory schemes. Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and strong Excel skills.
• Bonus: Prior experience in government programs or litigation support is preferred. Proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys are also preferred.
