What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Management: Manage family law case files from intake through resolution, ensuring matters are organized and progress efficiently.
• Document Preparation: Draft various legal documents, including net worth statements, correspondence, stipulations, and uncontested divorce packets.
• Financial Data & Filing: Enter financial data, prepare net worth statements using Family Law Software, and handle e-filing through EDDS and NYSCEF.
• Deadline Management: Track and manage court dates, deadlines, adjournments, and next steps for active cases, including requesting adjournments from the court and opposing counsel.
• Client & Professional Communication: Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and third parties, and coordinate document signings and notarizations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced professional in family law, capable of independently managing cases from intake through resolution without needing foundational training on family law basics.
• Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in family law practice, specifically proven in drafting legal documents and actively managing case files in a live practice.
• Skills:
• Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, demonstrating a natural inclination towards checklists, timelines, and repeatable processes.
• Professional, calm, and clear communication abilities, effective even when under pressure or handling sensitive client interactions.
• A proactive and anticipatory mindset, consistently identifying and addressing next steps to ensure cases progress efficiently without constant direction.
• Proficiency with relevant legal technology, including Clio, Family Law Software, Adobe Acrobat, Asana, and e-filing systems such as EDDS and NYSCEF, or the ability to quickly master new tools.
• Reliability for an in-office presence and comfort with timekeeping, billable expectations, and participation in structured, accountable workflows.
