2027 2L Summer Associate | Ogletree Deakins

The Tone:
This is a temporary, 10-week summer associate position at Ogletree Deakins, located in Denver, CO. Ogletree Deakins is one of the largest labor and employment law firms, representing management, with over 1,100 attorneys across 60 offices globally. This role offers second-year law students the opportunity to gain substantial experience in various employment-related legal matters, contributing directly to the firm’s client service while receiving extensive mentorship and professional development through the JD to OD program.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Conduct legal research for various projects.
• Draft: Draft legal documents including written discovery requests, responses, motions, legal correspondence, and prepare legal updates.
• Observe and Participate: Observe and participate in strategic planning for depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
• Engage: Participate in witness interviews and attend client meetings.
• Execute: Complete a wide variety of other legal assignments as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as a second-year law student in a Juris Doctor (JD) program, with an undergraduate degree demonstrating academic excellence and critical thinking ability.
• Experience: Class standing in the top 1/3, with participation in extracurricular activities highlighting leadership skills, commitment, and time management.
• Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work well with others and independently, and a demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset.
• Bonus: Interest in pursuing a career in management-side labor and employment law upon graduation from law school.
