What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide comprehensive support to attorneys across various family law matters, ensuring smooth operation of cases.
• Documents: Prepare, organize, and manage a wide range of legal documents, including drafting pleadings, motions, disclosures, and client correspondence, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Case Management: Effectively manage case files by conducting basic legal research, meticulously reviewing and summarizing documents, and maintaining critical calendars and deadlines for all active cases.
• Coordination: Coordinate all aspects of court filings and service of process, while also scheduling essential appointments and hearings with precision.
• Communication: Serve as a professional point of contact by communicating effectively with clients, courts, and opposing counsel, and maintain accurate data entry within case management systems.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early-level. Possess a strong foundational knowledge in family law or civil law procedures, coupled with a practical working understanding of court rules and legal processes to effectively navigate case requirements.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in legal document preparation, encompassing the ability to draft pleadings, motions, disclosures, and client correspondence. Experience with legal practice management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic filing systems is essential for daily operations.
• Skills: Exhibit effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear and professional interaction with clients, attorneys, and court personnel. Possess strong research and document review skills to accurately gather information, analyze records, and summarize findings. Maintain a high level of organization, time management, and meticulous attention to detail while managing multiple priorities and cases, alongside the ability to uphold strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive family law matters.
• Bonus: Paralegal certificate or relevant coursework, prior experience in family law or a law office setting.
