Legal Secretary | Crowell & Moring
The Tone:

What You’ll Actually Do
• Litigation Support: Provide comprehensive litigation support to multiple attorneys, managing heavy and complex caseloads.
• Document Preparation: Prepare, revise, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and correspondence in compliance with applicable court rules.
• Billing Management: Prepare client bills, including collecting, entering, and editing time, and resolve issues related to client service coordination and billing adjustments.
• Administrative Coordination: Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements, prepare and track expense reimbursements, and maintain and monitor litigation calendars.
• Filing and Data Management: Manage e-filings in federal and state courts, create and maintain filing systems and databases, and assist with discovery and trial support.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a High School Diploma or GED and a working knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of litigation secretary experience, preferably in an Am Law 200 or large law firm environment. Demonstrated hands-on experience with e-filing in federal and state courts, along with strong knowledge of court rules, procedures, and deadlines. Familiarity with PACER/CM/ECF and legal docketing systems is also required.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), document management and e-filing systems, Microsoft 365, Nuance, Litera Change Pro, and Adobe Acrobat. Extensive knowledge of advanced Word functions like Tables of Contents, Tables of Authorities, Best Authority, and Track Changes is essential, along with excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Bonus: An AA/BA/BS degree is preferred. Familiarity with graphics and image manipulation for PowerPoint presentations is also a plus.
