Immigration Paralegal | Akerman LLP

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Support: Support attorneys in the preparation, filing, and management of a broad range of employment-based and family-based immigration matters.
• Nonimmigrant Petitions: Prepare and file nonimmigrant visa petitions, including H-1B, H-2B, L-1A, L-1B, J-1, J-1 Waiver, O-1, P-1, and P-3 visas.
• Permanent Residence: Assist with employment-based permanent residence matters, including PERM labor certifications and EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, EB-4, and EB-5 immigrant petitions and applications.
• Naturalization: Support clients in citizenship and naturalization matters, including the preparation and filing of N-400 applications and related documentation.
• Case Management: Manage case files and immigration databases, track deadlines, ensure compliance with filing requirements, and communicate regularly with clients and government agencies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior. Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred. Core domain knowledge in corporate and family-based immigration matters.
• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of immigration paralegal experience, with substantial exposure to employment-based immigration matters; 10+ years preferred. Demonstrated experience preparing H-1B, H-2B, L-1A/L-1B, J-1, J-1 Waiver, P-1, P-3, and other employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions. Proven ability to independently prepare first drafts of attorney support letters and responses to requests for evidence (RFEs).
• Skills: Thorough knowledge of USCIS filing requirements, immigration forms, and case management processes. Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Bonus: Spanish language proficiency preferred. Experience with employment-based permanent residence matters, including PERM labor certifications and EB-1 through EB-5 immigrant petitions, and family-based immigration applications strongly preferred. Experience with citizenship and naturalization matters, including N-400 applications.
