Paralegal II, General Liability | Zurich North America
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Zurich North America, located in Irvine, CA, with a hybrid work model requiring once-a-week in-office attendance. • Mission: Provide essential legal support for moderate to complex liability litigation cases.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office, Lexus Nexis, litigation management software systems, California Courts E-filing system, Clerk, Court and Judicial websites
What You’ll Actually Do
• Drafting: Draft legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents as directed by attorneys.
• Research: Provide comprehensive legal and documentary research support for cases.
• Case Management: Monitor and adhere to case schedules and filing deadlines to ensure timely progression.
• Discovery Support: Conduct interviews, summarize depositions, review discovery responses and medical records, and prepare discovery requests and responses.
• Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys in all phases of trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witnesses.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Meets California’s specific paralegal requirements (e.g., paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved or accredited program, or a bachelor’s degree with one year of supervised law-related experience) with a High School Diploma or equivalent or an Associate Degree.
• Experience: At least 2-4 years of experience in legal support, including conducting electronic database research, drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to effectively draft legal documents, and robust technical skills.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate, defense or insurance industry experience, familiarity with Lexus Nexis, comfort working in a paperless environment, experience with litigation management software systems, trial experience including preparing exhibits, experience with California Courts E-filing system, and familiarity with California Rules of Civil Procedure and local rules.
