Financial Analyst Intern | Joby Aviation

The Tone:
This is an internship at Joby Aviation, located in Marina, CA. Joby Aviation is pioneering piloted air taxis, developing aircraft that take off vertically and quietly transport passengers over congested city streets, allowing more time for personal priorities. Since 2009, the company has been dedicated to this vision, now nearing FAA certification and scaling manufacturing in preparation for commercial service launches in the US and Dubai. This role is central to supporting the manufacturing organization by providing accurate financial analysis, reporting, and insights that drive cost discipline and informed operational decision-making.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: Hybrid, Marina, CA
• Pay: $18–$22.75 hourly
• Mission: Support manufacturing operations with financial analysis to improve cost discipline and operational decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Planning: Support financial planning and analysis activities for the Manufacturing organization.
• Monthly Close: Assist with monthly close activities by supporting the finance team with variance investigations.
• Workforce Management: Support workforce planning activities, including headcount tracking, labor cost analysis, overtime monitoring, and hiring plan reconciliation.
• Cost Initiatives: Assist in tracking cost reduction and efficiency initiatives to ensure savings are measurable.
• Capital Planning: Support the capital planning process through spend tracking, reporting, and basic business case analysis.
• Reporting: Prepare financial summaries and presentations for internal stakeholders.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in progress or completed in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 0-1 years of experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, or related analytical roles, including internships. Foundational understanding of finance and accounting principles.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail. Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and basic financial modeling. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
