Analyst, Legal Operations/ Paralegal | Obra Capital
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Obra Capital, located in New York, NY. Obra Capital is a growing organization seeking to expand its team with an integral member supporting the Legal and Compliance department. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain legal assistant experience while contributing to a collaborative environment. The role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of legal and compliance functions, functioning in both an administrative/operational and paralegal capacity.

• Mission: Supports the Legal and Compliance team by handling administrative, operational, and paralegal tasks to ensure departmental efficiency and compliance.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Communication: Manage the flow of internal and external communication for the legal and compliance team, ensuring all parties are kept informed and correspondence is handled professionally.
• Documentation & Records: Systematically organize and maintain essential legal books, corporate records, client-specific materials, and attorney work product. This includes providing assistance with litigation discovery and conducting thorough legal research as required.
• Corporate Filings & Documentation: Under the direct supervision of an attorney, assist in the preparation of diverse legal documentation, routine board materials, special corporate items, and the comprehensive preparation and filing of critical documents such as certificates of formation, tax filings (e.g., SS-4s, 8832s), regulatory registrations, and account opening documentation.
• Process Workflow Management: Track various legal processes and agreements, including non-disclosure agreements and vendor contracts, proactively managing their workflow from initiation to completion. This also involves coordinating the collection and distribution of necessary signatures and closing sets for legal matters.
• Administrative & Operational Support: Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support by maintaining detailed checklists and chronological records of project activity, coordinating effectively with internal colleagues and external parties, liaising across various departments to organize and facilitate the timely payment of invoices, and expertly scheduling and coordinating meetings and calls, including the preparation of necessary materials and circulation of summaries.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in paralegal studies or similar/complementary paralegal training and certification.
• Experience: At least 3 years’ experience working in a law firm or supporting a legal group within a financial services firm.
• Skills: Possess strong written and analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex information, demonstrate excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills, and manage time effectively under pressure with competing priorities. Must also be teamwork-oriented and capable of working independently with minimal guidance.
