What You’ll Actually Do
• Court Filings Management: Expertly coordinate and execute electronic filings in New York State and Federal jurisdictions, leveraging platforms such as File & ServeXpress and PACER/CM/ECF, and meticulously assemble binders for court/agency filings and client records, ensuring all attachments are accurate.
• Trial Support & Logistics: Provide end-to-end support for trial preparation, which includes handling all necessary logistics and actively supporting attorneys at trial as required, demonstrating a deep understanding of trial procedures.
• Legal Research & Information Oversight: Conduct comprehensive internet research using tools like Lexis and Westlaw to obtain court dockets and other critical information, manage the client/matter intake process from conflicts check to number creation, and organize/maintain both paper and electronic files in line with Firm retention policies.
• Attorney Administrative Facilitation: Prepare essential legal documents such as subpoenas, court scheduling stipulations, motions, and brief templates, while also editing and proofreading documents for accuracy, managing attorney Outlook email and calendars, processing expense reports, and overseeing vendor invoices through completion.
• Meeting & Travel Coordination: Organize and manage all attorney travel logistics, including flights, hotels, and transportation, coordinate various meeting requirements (scheduling, videoconferences, equipment, catering), and assist with small attorney events in collaboration with the Firm Events team.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or related legal work experience, with substantive knowledge and understanding of litigation practice.
• Experience: At least five (5) years of litigation experience, including trial experience, working with a trial team, managing databases, and filing in various jurisdictions.
• Skills: Knowledge of court rules and civil procedures in New York State and Federal jurisdictions; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word); strong written and verbal communication; excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
• Bonus: Cryptocurrency or Crypto-Litigation knowledge; working knowledge of Relativity, PACER, CM/ECF, Westlaw, Lexis, and File & ServeXpress.
