Paralegal | Gallagher Bolander Smedley, LLP

The Tone:
This is a full-time role for Gallagher Bolander Smedley, LLP, with a remote schedule possible upon partner approval. The firm provides legal services, and this role is crucial for supporting attorneys in clerical and research tasks, ensuring efficient case progression and client interaction. The Paralegal plays a key part in managing trust and probate administration cases, directly contributing to the firm’s ability to serve clients effectively and meet legal deadlines.

• Team: Reports to Supervising Paralegal(s) and assists attorneys
• Mission: To provide essential legal support services to attorneys, managing trust and probate administration cases, drafting documents, and maintaining client communication for effective case resolution.
• Tech Stack: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Adobe, MyCase, Odessey, GreenFiling, One Legal

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drafting & E-Filing: Prepare and electronically file a variety of pleadings and documents for Trust Administration, Probate Administration, and Conservatorship matters.
• Case Management: Coordinate with attorneys and supervising paralegals to manage assigned caseloads, ensuring timely client updates and follow-ups.
• Client & Court Liaison: Act as a point of contact for clients, and work with court officials or opposing counsel to facilitate case closure or settlement.
• Administrative Support: Organize company and client files, docket and track deadlines, manage attorney calendars, and gather information from clients.
• Legal Research: Investigate matters and court files, and research local rules, statutes, county requirements, and other online resources for specific cases.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Mid-level professional meeting qualifications under Cal. Bus $ Prof. Code Section 6450 et seq., with a strong understanding of legal language, principles, research methods, and Estate Planning processes.
• Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience specifically as a trust or probate paralegal, including preparing and e-filing pleadings.
• Skills: High proficiency in MS Office suite and Adobe, strong organizational and time-management abilities, excellent written and oral communication, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Bonus: An Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies, a Paralegal Certificate, and preferred experience drafting specific documents like Proofs of Service, Acceptance, Deeds, and routine pleadings in Probate and Conservatorship matters.
