What You’ll Actually Do
• Hearings: Conduct hearings, either to hear and report findings or to hear and determine specific matters.
• Reporting: Take testimony during hearings and accurately report findings of facts to a judge for review.
• Analysis: Research and analyze complex legal questions and issues that arise in civil and criminal cases.
• Resolution: Conference cases and actively resolve motions, particularly within foreclosure and discovery parts.
• Writing: Write confidential memoranda and draft opinions that support judicial decisions and proceedings.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Admission to the New York State Bar, indicating foundational legal knowledge and qualification to practice law.
• Experience: Three (3) years of service as an Associate Court Attorney; or Eight (8) years of relevant legal experience gained after admission to the New York State Bar.
• Skills: Legal research, Legal analysis, Case conferencing, Motion resolution, Legal writing.
