Intern Mental Health Therapist | Sukoon Psychotherapy

The Tone:
This is an internship at Sukoon Psychotherapy, located in Mason, OH with some work-from-home flexibility. Sukoon Psychotherapy provides a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions, using evidence-based therapeutic approaches grounded in empathy. This role supports the delivery of client-centered psychotherapy services under licensed supervision, helping clients move toward emotional well-being, balance, and fulfillment through supervised practice and ongoing training.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Deliver: Conduct intake interviews and assist with individual therapy sessions with clients.
• Document: Maintain accurate and timely clinical notes in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
• Plan: Participate in treatment planning and apply evidence-based interventions under supervision.
• Develop: Collaborate with supervisors to refine clinical skills and enhance case conceptualization.
• Contribute: Support group sessions, engage in case consultations, and foster a therapeutic environment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a master’s program in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related mental health field.
• Experience: Foundational knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, person-centered, trauma-informed approaches) and an interest in applying them collaboratively with clients.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal, active listening, and emotional attunement skills to foster a safe therapeutic space; ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold ethical standards; commitment to cultural humility and inclusive practice; openness to supervision, feedback, and professional development; strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Bonus: Eligibility for internship placement in Ohio and intention to pursue appropriate licensure (e.g., LPC, LSW, MFT) is preferred.
