Associate, Strategy and Corporate Development | Blue Owl Capital

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Blue Owl Capital, located in New York, NY. Blue Owl is a leading asset manager with over $315 billion in assets under management, focused on redefining alternatives across Credit, Real Assets, and GP Strategic Capital platforms. The company provides private capital solutions to businesses and offers differentiated alternative investment opportunities to institutional, individual, and insurance investors. This role is crucial for a 1,390-person organization, as it supports the firmwide strategy by evaluating and executing strategic transactions and participating in the full lifecycle of transactional execution.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Initiatives: Evaluate and execute strategic transactions for Blue Owl Capital, including asset management acquisitions, strategic investments, partnerships, and new business opportunities.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct extensive financial modeling, including valuation analysis and transaction structuring, to support strategic decision-making.
• Presentation Development: Prepare presentation materials to facilitate internal transaction approval, pipeline review, and other governance processes.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other business units on all aspects of transaction execution and develop relationships with teams such as finance, treasury, and legal.
• Project Management: Manage strategic projects, including developing implementation plans and transitioning them into business execution as appropriate.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or a related field, with knowledge of the Alternative Asset Management industry.
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or GP stakes, demonstrating strong financial modeling, valuation skills, and command of the deal process management cycle.
• Skills: Strong experience in financial modeling and valuation, excellent command of the deal process management cycle, effective written and verbal communication, analytical and critical thinking, and project management abilities.
• Bonus: Demonstrated leadership qualities, intellectual curiosity, strong initiative, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, dedication to completing tasks thoroughly and on time, and the ability to view the “big picture” to understand broad corporate impacts.
