• Mission: Performs specialized duties necessary for the efficient daily operation of the Salt Lake City Justice Court.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Management: Issue, direct, schedule, record, and prepare criminal matters for court hearings, including summons, warrants, dockets, motions, and judgments.
• Document Processing: Verify, amend, maintain, and electronically file all charging documents received from prosecuting agencies and parties.
• Court Operations: Prepare, verify, and maintain court calendars for Criminal, Traffic, and Small Claims court, and may fulfill in-court duties as needed.
• Information Provision: Provide information on city codes, state statutes, court processes, and penalties to the public and resolve court record discrepancies.
• Financial Processing: Process financial obligations related to traffic, criminal, and small claims cases, including payments, payment plans, and managing collection reports.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school graduation or equivalent, combined with extensive knowledge of the judicial system, court procedures, legal processes, interpreter processes, and due process.
• Experience: Four years in a customer-oriented or hybrid office environment, including two years of legal experience as a Judicial Assistant, Paralegal, or Legal Assistant.
• Skills: Ability to obtain Utah BCI systems certification within 30 days; proficiency in personal computers, Microsoft Office, office equipment, and various electronic filing systems and databases; strong communication (oral and written) for diverse audiences; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; and capacity to follow complex directions, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
