Investment Banking Managing Director – Head of Business & Financial Services | MUFG

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Intrepid, the middle-market advisory arm of MUFG, with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Charlotte. Intrepid, part of one of the largest financial groups in the world, is known for its unique entrepreneurial culture that values teamwork and transparency, providing M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory services. This position is vital for expanding Intrepid’s national presence by launching and leading a new Business & Financial Services practice, driving significant deal flow and contributing to the firm’s strategic growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Practice Leadership: Launch and strategically lead the new Business & Financial Services practice, developing comprehensive thought leadership within key target sectors to establish market presence.
• Origination: Actively build and nurture relationships with critical deal referral sources and business owners, diligently identifying, qualifying, and generating new prospect leads to expand the firm’s deal flow.
• Client Management: Provide expert management of client relationships, meticulously overseeing all client and counter-party communication throughout the transaction lifecycle.
• Transaction Oversight: Direct and oversee all comprehensive aspects of M&A transactions, ensuring successful execution from initial contact through closing.
• Firm Building: Contribute meaningfully to the firm’s growth by assisting other bankers with essential activities such as training, recruiting, and mentoring junior talent.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Executive-level understanding of professional and financial services sectors, supported by outstanding academic credentials from a top-tier school.
• Experience: 10-plus years of experience in sell-side M&A advisory, including a minimum of 5 years of industry-specific M&A, with an extensive record of originating and executing M&A transactions in business and financial services sectors.
• Skills: Excellent written and oral communication; proven ability to engage with prospects and intermediaries, develop relationships, and seamlessly introduce senior bankers; FINRA Series 7, 63 or 79 license.
• Bonus: FINRA Series 24 license.
