What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Conduct legal research, analyzing statutes and case law to support ongoing cases.
• Memoranda: Prepare detailed legal memoranda to articulate research findings and legal arguments.
• Drafting: Draft, format, and organize a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, correspondence, and discovery materials.
• Case Management: Review case files, maintain organized records, and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Litigation Support: Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, depositions, and client meetings, communicating with staff and clients as appropriate.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in or graduated from an accredited law school, or possessing equivalent legal education or experience, with a strong foundation in MS Law including civil procedure, criminal procedure, rules of evidence, and relevant practice areas.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and correspondence with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Skills:
• Legal Research: Solid research skills, including the use of legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis, or equivalent), and the ability to synthesize case law and statutes effectively.
• Legal Writing: Excellent writing skills, with strong grammar, organization, and the ability to produce concise, persuasive legal memoranda.
• Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and professionally.
• Organization: Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with high attention to detail.
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency with standard office and document management software.
• Bonus: Prior law office or clerkship experience is beneficial.
