Director, Corporate Development & Investor Relations | Airwallex
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Airwallex, located in San Francisco. Airwallex is the sole unified payments and financial platform designed for global businesses, leveraging proprietary infrastructure and software. It empowers over 250,000 businesses worldwide with integrated solutions across business accounts, payments, spend management, treasury, and embedded finance. This role is instrumental in shaping Airwallex’s corporate development strategy and building strong investor relationships globally, influencing major M&A decisions and supporting initiatives that drive long-term value for the company.

• Pay: $170000–$270000 yearly
• Team: Corporate Development and Investor Relations team, partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Data Science, and the CEO’s Office.
• Mission: Drive strategic growth and investor engagement efforts globally, shaping corporate development strategy and building strong investor relationships.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategy Development: Develop and refine the global corporate development strategy in alignment with the company’s long-term vision.
• Opportunity Identification: Identify, assess, and cultivate a pipeline of actionable M&A opportunities, evaluating targets for strategic and financial fit.
• Transaction Execution: Drive the execution of live M&A transactions, including developing financial models, managing due diligence, and coordinating across multiple teams.
• Investor Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with leading venture, growth, and public equity investors.
• Fundraising Support: Support executives on fundraising activities, including preparation, investor communications, and relationship management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Director level, with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, specializing in corporate development and investor relations.
• Experience: 10 years of experience, preferably in top-tier investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, or corporate development, with specific experience in M&A and live deals.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills and data literacy, specifically the ability to create clear investment memos and financial models, coupled with exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts to senior management and stakeholders. Demonstrated self-starter capabilities, prioritizing tasks, managing workload effectively, and holding oneself accountable for key outcomes.
• Bonus: Experience within the technology or financial services industries, or experience gained in a high-growth environment.
