Court Part Support Specialist | City of New York

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office (KCDA), located in Brooklyn, NY. KCDA is one of the largest prosecutors’ offices in the country, dedicated to innovative strategies that keep Brooklyn safe while ensuring fairness and justice for all. This role within the Case Management Services (CMS) Unit is critical, providing essential support to the Office’s legal practice by ensuring the collection, entry, and auditing of complete, timely, and high-quality data from court proceedings. Your contribution is vital to the Office’s mission of building community trust and ensuring fundamental fairness in the criminal justice system.

• Mission: Ensuring the accurate and timely collection and entry of critical court data to support legal practice and justice initiatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• In-Court Support: Provide comprehensive in-court support, especially in Criminal Court Arraignment Parts, to facilitate optimal court operations.
• Data Entry & Management: Capture relevant information from on-the-record proceedings and accurately enter it into Office data systems, anticipating and resolving unusual situations.
• File Preparation & Audit: Ensure the availability, accuracy, and completeness of case files for arraignment ADAs, including necessary notices, forms, and Orders of Protection.
• Case Research: Review criminal histories and conduct research to identify pending and related cases, noting all relevant information for the arraignment ADA.
• Clerical Support: Provide general clerical support to the Case Management Services Unit, including data entry, auditing previously entered data for accuracy, and resolving inconsistencies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum of an Associate Degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma/equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience, demonstrating a background in clerical support within a legal or similar administrative environment.
• Experience: Proven experience in data entry, file management, and clerical tasks, ideally within a court or legal administrative setting, with the ability to integrate new procedures into existing workflows.
• Skills: Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, self-motivated, and possess strong communication skills, with a very high concern for data accuracy and the ability to work effectively as part of a team under pressure.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of relevant experience is preferred, along with the flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed (the regular schedule is Monday to Friday, 5:00 pm to 1:00 am).
