Litigation Paralegal | Turnberry

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Turnberry, providing essential and comprehensive support to an in-house attorney. The Litigation Paralegal is pivotal in managing a diverse range of legal matters, including general liability litigation, employment law, and commercial landlord/tenant disputes. This position ensures the efficient execution of legal operations, robust case file management, and timely processing of critical legal documents. The role requires a high degree of organization, discretion, and meticulous attention to detail to coordinate effectively across various internal departments and with external legal partners.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support legal proceedings: Provide critical day-to-day legal support for pre-litigation investigations, active cases, and dispute resolution across general liability, employment, and commercial landlord/tenant matters.
• Draft and manage legal documents: Draft, review, and meticulously organize a wide array of legal documents, including pleadings, subpoenas, detailed discovery responses, position statements, and general legal correspondence.
• Oversee case management and compliance: Manage complex legal calendars by tracking critical court deadlines, hearing schedules, deposition dates, mediation appointments, and ensuring all compliance timelines are met.
• Facilitate internal and external coordination: Act as a key liaison, coordinating effectively with internal departments such as HR, Risk Management, and Operations to gather necessary documentation, and communicate with external counsel, insurance carriers, and third-party vendors.
• Conduct research and maintain files: Execute legal research on topics including labor laws, tort liability, and procedural rules, while also organizing and maintaining both electronic and hard copy legal files, from discovery records to personnel documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree and a Paralegal Certificate or Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) through a recognized credentialing body are required for this role focused on in-house legal support.
• Experience: A minimum of 4 years of paralegal experience is required, with at least 3 years specifically focused on insurance, general liability, landlord/tenant litigation, and/or employment law, including matters related to personal injury and employment claims.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), SharePoint, and legal document management systems is essential, along with comprehensive familiarity with court rules, litigation procedures in state and federal jurisdictions, and e-filing systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also required.
• Bonus: In-house paralegal experience and a Notary Public designation are highly preferred for this position.
