Corporate Paralegal | Harper Brothers Construction LLC
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Harper Brothers Construction LLC, located in Houston, TX. Harper Brothers Construction builds infrastructure, focusing on people, partnerships, and lasting impact across Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. This role is crucial for supporting the General Counsel by managing legal operations, subcontract administration, and matter tracking, ensuring all legal, contractual, and compliance activities are handled efficiently and accurately for the growing company.

• Mission: Manage legal operations, subcontract administration, and matter tracking to ensure all legal, contractual, and compliance-related activities are handled efficiently and accurately.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Subcontract Administration: Support the preparation, routing, execution, and tracking of subcontracts, amendments, purchase orders, and change orders, maintaining auditable files and tracking compliance.
• Legal Operations: Maintain and organize legal matters, documents, deadlines, and budgets using CounselLink+ as the central system of record, managing legal calendars and reporting schedules.
• Outside Counsel Coordination: Coordinate matter assignments, document requests, and communications with outside counsel, supporting invoice review, coding, and budget tracking.
• Claims & Litigation Support: Assist with claims, disputes, litigation, and bond-related matters by organizing pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and coordinating document collection across departments.
• Corporate & Compliance Support: Maintain corporate records, licenses, registrations, and filings, supporting compliance tracking, contractor licensing, and internal policy documentation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Paralegal certificate, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in a legal or construction environment.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in a legal department, law firm, or related field; strong experience with subcontract administration and contract documentation.
• Skills: Excellent organizational, document management, and calendaring skills; strong attention to detail; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Bonus: Construction industry experience; proficiency in CounselLink+; familiarity with construction contracts, insurance documents, bonds, claims, and litigation support.
