EOIR Immigration Paralegal | Verde Law

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Verde Law, located in Miami, FL. Verde Law, PLLC is a fast-growing bilingual immigration and personal injury law firm, serving clients across all 50 states. This critical position manages immigration court cases, directly impacting individuals’ ability to remain in the United States. The role requires someone who treats court dates as sacred and ensures filings are complete, organized, and on time.

• Team: Reports to supervising paralegal, working directly with attorneys.
• Mission: Manages the preparation and processing of immigration court cases to defend individuals facing removal.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Filing Preparation: Prepare and assemble EOIR filings, including pleadings, motions (bond, continuance, termination), briefs, and evidence packets, formatted to the EOIR Practice Manual.
• Application Drafting: Prepare I-589 asylum applications, Cuban Adjustment Act filings, EOIR-42B cancellation applications, and supporting client declarations.
• Court Compliance: E-file through ECAS and accurately calendar all master calendar hearings, individual hearings, and call-up deadlines the moment they are known.
• Client Communication: Communicate with clients in Spanish and English to gather documents and evidence, draft declarations, and prepare clients and witnesses for hearings.
• Record Keeping: Keep matter records complete and current in Clio, tracking A-numbers, court dates, detention status, and filing history.

The Must-Haves
• Background: 2+ years of immigration paralegal experience, including direct work in EOIR / immigration court (removal defense).
• Experience: Hands-on experience building asylum (I-589) evidence packets, in addition to the required direct EOIR / immigration court removal defense experience.
• Skills: Full professional fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written), working knowledge of ECAS e-filing and the EOIR Practice Manual, and exceptional organization and deadline discipline.
• Bonus: Experience with Cuban Adjustment Act or BIA appeals is a plus; experience with Clio or comparable case management software is preferred.
