The Tone:
This is a temporary, non-exempt internship program at Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC, a firm committed to supporting veterans, located in Roseland, NJ. The Veteran’s Internship Program (VIP) is designed to provide honorably discharged or currently serving military members with crucial hands-on experience as they transition to the civilian workforce. This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to explore various administrative departments within a professional legal environment, allowing for significant career exploration and skill development. Participants will contribute to daily operations while gaining valuable insights into civilian professional roles.

The TL;DR

• Mission: To assist honorably discharged or currently serving military members in their transition to the civilian workforce by providing interim administrative experience and career exploration within a law firm setting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Gain Hands-on Finance Experience: Participate in rotations through the Finance department to receive practical exposure to the firm’s accounting principles, financial reporting processes, and operational budgeting, facilitating an understanding of corporate financial management.
• Explore Marketing Functions: Engage with the Marketing department to learn about strategies for client engagement, brand development, and communication initiatives, gaining insight into how professional services firms build and maintain their market presence.
• Understand Information Technology Operations: Dive into the systems, infrastructure, and support services crucial for the firm’s daily operations, including learning about technical assistance, network management, and data security protocols.
• Support Facilities and Hospitality: Participate in the comprehensive management of the firm’s physical environment, including contributing to logistical support, ensuring office upkeep, and maintaining a professional and welcoming atmosphere for clients and staff.
• Contribute to Records and Office Services: Assist with the meticulous organization and maintenance of firm records, along with providing essential general office support functions to ensure seamless administrative efficiency across various departments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must either be honorably discharged from military service or currently serving in the military. This program is specifically designed for individuals seeking to transition into the civilian workforce after their military commitment.
• Experience: Seeking interim professional experience that will directly assist with their career transition from military to civilian employment. No prior specific civilian work experience in these administrative areas is required, as the program focuses on providing foundational exposure.
