Billing Analyst | Coast Electric Power Association

This is a full-time role at Coast Electric Power Association, likely located in Kiln, MS, or the surrounding service area. Coast Electric Power Association is a utility provider that delivers electricity to its members and offers connectivity services to CoastConnect subscribers. This position is crucial for ensuring the precision of billing, promptly resolving account discrepancies, accurately processing adjustments, and delivering outstanding service to all members and subscribers. The Billing Analyst directly contributes to the cooperative’s financial integrity and member satisfaction by being a primary resource for all billing-related inquiries.

• Mission: Ensure accurate billing, investigate account discrepancies, process billing adjustments, and provide exceptional service to members and subscribers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Billing Analysis & Adjustment: Audit, analyze, and adjust residential, commercial, and demand account billing, including investigating unusual usage and resolving member concerns.
• Account Transaction Processing: Process meter readings, service orders, transfers, reconnects, disconnects, final bills, and work requests while ensuring accurate account documentation.
• Financial Transaction Management: Manage account financial transactions such as deposits, refunds, electronic fund transfers, returned payments, prepaid adjustments, and commercial account billing.
• Member & Internal Support: Provide comprehensive billing support and information to members, branch offices, field personnel, and internal departments regarding account activity, usage, and services.
• Record Keeping & Reporting Support: Maintain accurate records and assist with account research, reporting, and documentation for audits, bankruptcies, probates, and other billing matters.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. Candidates should have at least one year of experience in customer service, billing, accounting support, banking, finance, or a related field.
• Experience: At least one year of experience is required in areas such as customer service, billing, or accounting support. A standout preferred qualification includes experience with utility billing, account auditing, payment processing, account reconciliation, or customer account management.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Word, along with the ability to work with databases and computerized business systems is essential. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, coupled with attention to detail and accuracy, are also required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interact with members, coworkers, and the public.
• Bonus: Experience working with large volumes of data and generating reports is preferred.
