Contracts Specialist | HF Sinclair

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at HF Sinclair, located in Dallas, TX. HF Sinclair is an independent energy company that produces and markets high-value light products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and renewable diesel, operating refineries across several states and supplying over 1,500 branded stations. This role is crucial for providing advanced assistance to the Legal Department, ensuring that all contractual agreements comply with company policies and legal requirements. The Contracts Specialist contributes to advancing legal and business objectives through accurate documentation and timely contract support, supporting both customers and manufacturing facilities.

• Team: Legal Department, reports to Assistant General Counsel
• Mission: To prepare, negotiate, draft, edit, and evaluate a broad range of moderately to highly complex contracts and related documents, ensuring compliance and effective contract management.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Work Management: Manage and lead legal work supporting the business, including comprehensive contract preparation, review, and administration processes.
• Contract Lifecycle Administration: Oversee all contract administration activities, encompassing contract intake, meticulous records maintenance, and database management, including renewals.
• Agreement Negotiation and Drafting: Create, review, edit, coordinate, and lead negotiations on diverse agreements for goods and services, real property leases, and dispute settlements.
• Risk Assessment Decisions: Provide informed decisions on the risk assessment associated with company products and their various uses.
• Dispute Resolution Leadership: Lead and prepare comprehensive responses to third-party contractual pre-litigation demands and claims.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and significant prior practical experience, demonstrating senior-level expertise in contracts and legal support.
• Experience: A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a similar position, with demonstrated expertise in managing contract forms and handling general contractual matters. A stable work history and a reputation for high ethical standards are required.
• Skills: Advanced legal drafting and analytical skills, project management experience specifically with both sales and procurement contracts, and excellent organizational capabilities. Proficiency in international and domestic contract negotiations, management, and dispute resolution is also required.
• Bonus: Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) certification and/or paralegal certification are a plus. Experience in the Power Generation, Oil/Gas, or Petrochemical fields, along with knowledge of the UN Convention on the Sale of Goods, UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Law, and the Uniform Commercial Code, is preferred.
