Litigation Docket Coordinator | Morrison Foerster

The Litigation Docket Coordinator directly supports legal teams by maintaining compliance with court rules and enhancing client service through meticulous operational execution.

• Mission: Ensure accurate and timely court filings, deadline calendaring, and rule compliance to support efficient litigation processes and client satisfaction.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Electronic Filing: Perform electronic court filings across federal, state, and appellate courts, meticulously reviewing documents for compliance with all relevant court rules and requirements.
• Deadline Management: Calculate, calendar, and apply court rules to advise attorneys on all deadlines generated by court documents and other legal filings using the automated docketing system.
• Rule Interpretation: Monitor and interpret court and agency rule changes, communicating critical updates and procedural requirements to attorneys and staff.
• Procedural Guidance: Conduct comprehensive procedural research across multiple jurisdictions and coordinate with third-party vendors for specialized filing and court research needs.
• Reporting & Improvement: Prepare and distribute weekly firmwide calendar reports, maintain accurate and consistent calendar entries, and contribute to projects that enhance departmental processes and services.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced professional with a strong understanding of state and federal court procedures, including California procedural codes, Fed. R. Civ. P., and local court rules.
• Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience with docketing and electronic filing in state and federal courts.
• Skills: Proficient in electronic court filing, automated docketing systems, and Microsoft Office programs; demonstrates strong ability to prepare accurate, highly detailed work product; possesses effective written and verbal communication skills for all organizational levels; capable of working independently, organizing time, prioritizing workloads, and meeting deadlines under pressure.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree and experience using CompuLaw or a similar docketing system are preferred.
