What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepares pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents for electronic filing or service on opposing counsel.
• Drafts and finalizes legal memoranda, including state, federal, and appellate pleadings, ensuring proper cite-checking and adherence to Bluebook and local court rules.
• Gathers critical facts, documents, exhibits, and evidence to assist in the initiation of legal actions, discovery, or motion practice.
• Manages comprehensive discovery processes, including conducting document searches, coordinating productions with Bates-numbering, redaction, production logs, privilege logs, and e-discovery.
• Organizes and prepares all necessary materials for oral arguments, depositions, mediations, and trials, including exhibits, witness materials, and trial notebooks, while coordinating trial logistics.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Foundational understanding of complex legal concepts, terminology, and the rules regulating paralegals/legal assistants, coupled with the ability to manage highly confidential information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity.
• Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of state, federal, and appellate court rules and procedures. This includes practical experience with ECF e-filing systems across multiple jurisdictions and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
• Skills: Proficiency in legal research using LexisNexis or Westlaw; skilled in drafting pleadings and discovery documents; advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat; strong command of other litigation support applications; excellent organizational, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills; and adept at working independently while prioritizing workload under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate is preferred for candidates in this role.
