Legal Department Contracts Analyst | AAR

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at AAR, located in Wood Dale, IL, with a planned relocation to the Merchandise Mart (Chicago) in early 2027. The company’s Law Department supports all legal functions, ensuring compliance and efficient operations. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of contract processes, managing legal documentation, and providing essential administrative and research support to the legal team, ultimately helping to minimize company risk.

• Team: Reports to the Senior Corporate Counsel and provides primary support to that role, as well as general support to other Legal Department team members.
• Mission: This person supports the Law Department’s contracting functions and administrative needs to ensure efficient operations and minimize company risk.
• Tech Stack: Matter management software, contract management software, Microsoft Outlook

What You’ll Actually Do
• Contract Review: Assist the Legal Team in preparing, reviewing, revising, and analyzing commercial contracts and agreements, including NDAs, to accurately reflect business transactions and minimize risk.
• Database Management: Spearhead the creation and maintenance of the contract database and actively utilize contract and matter management software, including administrative functions like scanning and report generation.
• Legal Support: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for corporate legal support and assist with legal hold notices, affidavits, and discovery requests for litigation matters.
• Administrative Duties: Provide administrative assistance as needed, including answering phones, obtaining apostilles and notarized documents, preparing legal documents, and managing calendars.
• Project Assistance: Take on additional tasks, special projects, and related duties, collaborating with all team members across the organization.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related domain.
• Experience: 3–8 years of related experience and/or training.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication (including grammar, spelling, and transcription), discretion and professionalism, and technical proficiency with legal software and standard office suites.
• Bonus: Notary public (or willingness to obtain) and a strong understanding of legal procedures.
