Prelitigation Associate: Negotiations & Settlements | Halavi Law, Inc.

The Tone:
This is an associate role at Halavi Law, Inc., located in Los Angeles, CA. Halavi Law is a plaintiff-side employment firm dedicated to fighting for California workers on FEHA, whistleblower, and wage-and-hour claims. This role is crucial for addressing the firm’s high volume of strong cases by settling them efficiently and ensuring clients are paid. The position requires a lawyer who can take cases ready for resolution and drive them to a successful settlement.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $100000–$120000 yearly

• Mission: To settle cases and get clients paid, resolving a high volume of strong claims.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Finalize Demands: Finalize and approve demand letters based on comprehensive case files.
• Negotiate Settlements: Negotiate directly with defense counsel on settlement numbers and substantive legal arguments.
• Manage Client Expectations: Correspond with clients to set realistic expectations and obtain authority for negotiation and settlement.
• Evaluate New Cases: Review incoming intakes and, in coordination with the firm’s founder, decide which cases the firm approves.
• Own Docket: Independently manage a prelitigation docket from start to finish.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Active California bar license; experience or familiarity in employment law, personal injury, or another negotiation-heavy legal practice.
• Experience: Working familiarity with legal tech tools and a demonstrated ability to adapt to new technology quickly.
• Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of self-managing a high-volume docket without supervision. Possesses strong negotiation skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex realities to clients while maintaining trust.
