As a Legal Assistant, you will be a vital contact point, directly supporting our attorneys with ongoing cases, conducting essential fact-finding, and preparing for trials. What You’ll Actually Do
• Clerical Operations: Perform essential secretarial, clerical, and data entry duties to support the firm’s legal processes efficiently.
• Document Management & Filing: Manage all legal documents utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe, including the critical task of e-filing documents within Florida’s E-Portal System.
• Scheduling & Coordination: Maintain the attorney’s calendar by scheduling depositions, pre-depositions, meetings, mediations, and hearings, and setting up court calls or Zoom for various proceedings.
• Litigation Support: Assist attorneys directly in preparing thoroughly for all legal events, including depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences, ensuring they are fully equipped.
• Legal Drafting & Communication: Draft a variety of legal court documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas, and manage correspondence with parties and non-parties via email, regular mail, or certified mail, alongside direct client communication.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Professionals bringing a minimum of two years of legal assistant experience, specifically with a background in first-party property or general litigation.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook, alongside experience using case management software and e-filing in both state and federal courts.
• Core Competencies: Strong customer service skills, the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with both clients and co-workers, and excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage a heavy workload, multitask, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Bonus: Preferred candidates will possess bi-lingual capabilities in English and Spanish to support a diverse client base.
