What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Formatting: Format and prepare a variety of legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, correspondence, and other materials, ensuring they meet professional standards.
• Court Filing: Manage the electronic filing of legal documents with both state and federal courts, requiring strong e-filing knowledge.
• Document Review: Accurately proofread all documents for completeness and precision before they are distributed or officially filed.
• Calendar Management: Maintain and update attorney calendars using Outlook and CompuLaw, which involves scheduling appointments and calendaring critical due dates.
• Financial and Administrative Support: Accurately enter and revise timekeeper timesheets, identifying relevant litigation codes, and prepare attorney reimbursements and vendor invoices for payment.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced professional with a minimum of a high school diploma; possesses demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, and legal processes specific to a Litigation Department, including the ability to mark and generate a table of contents and table of authorities.
• Experience: Requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience specifically as a litigation secretary, coupled with practical experience in state and federal filing, and proficiency with Lexis Nexis, Pacer, ECF, CompuLaw, and Concur platforms.
• Skills: Strong computer proficiency encompassing MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), experience with Document Management Systems, Time Entry, e-filing, and various database software.
• Bonus: A college degree is preferred, though not strictly required.
