Associate or Vice President – Strategic Advisory (Oil & Gas) | PJT Partners

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at PJT Partners, located primarily in Houston, supporting a global advisory-focused investment bank known for delivering a wide array of strategic advisory, shareholder advisory, restructuring, and private fund advisory and placement services. • Team: Strategic Advisory group (Oil & Gas platform), working on lean deal teams with senior oil & gas practitioners.
• Mission: To drive deal execution and business development for strategic advisory in the oil & gas sector.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Evaluate, structure, and recommend financial and strategic alternatives, such as mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
• Lead day-to-day transaction execution, including conducting due diligence, valuation analysis, and negotiating agreements.
• Analyze financial data, market developments, and conduct industry research to support strategic and financial analyses.
• Design and develop quantitative models to assess the economic performance of targeted companies.
• Prepare written analyses and evaluations of investment opportunities for both management and client review.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Individuals with a strong academic background, demonstrated leadership, and required upstream oil & gas domain knowledge.
• Experience: 4–6 years in a relevant field or an Oil & Gas group at a bulge bracket or boutique advisory firm.
• Skills: Analytical and detail-oriented problem-solving, strong verbal and written communication, robust organizational and time management skills.
• Bonus: Broader energy sector knowledge beyond upstream.
