Data Analytics Intern | PlayCore

The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at PlayCore, located in Chattanooga, TN. PlayCore’s Surfacing Group is undergoing a significant migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, and this role is central to ensuring smooth financial and operational reporting throughout the transition. The intern will gain hands-on experience by transforming raw business data into actionable insights, directly contributing to the team’s ability to make informed decisions. This role is a developmental opportunity within a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.

• Mission: To support financial and operational reporting during a major system migration by turning raw business data into actionable insights for the Surfacing Group.
• Tech Stack: Power BI, Excel, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, SQL, Python

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support the D365 Finance & Operations migration efforts, including data validation, mapping legacy data, and testing during rollout.
• Build and maintain recurring financial and operational reports, such as Orders, Shipments & Backlog and month-end summaries.
• Design and maintain Power BI dashboards, encompassing data modeling, dataset refreshes, and executive-ready visualizations.
• Create and refine Excel-based reports, templates, and lightweight automation to streamline recurring analysis.
• Assist in identifying and resolving data quality issues to ensure reporting reflects accurate, trusted source data.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field at an entry-level.
• Experience: Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data cleanup techniques.
• Skills: Strong analytical mindset, keen attention to detail, an eagerness to learn new tools and systems, the ability to ask thoughtful questions, work independently, and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences.
• Bonus: Exposure to Power BI or other data visualization tools; familiarity with SQL, Python, or database concepts; interest in ERP systems like Dynamics 365 or QuickBooks; UTC student preferred.
