What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Management: Assist attorneys with case management, including organizing files, maintaining case calendars, and tracking deadlines.
• Document Preparation: Draft and format legal documents, prepare correspondence, and assemble pleadings and discovery materials for filing and service.
• Research & Summarization: Conduct legal research, summarize medical records and other evidence, and prepare case summaries and trial notebooks.
• Communication & Coordination: Communicate with clients, courts, and other parties, and manage documentation within case management systems.
• Litigation Support: Support attorneys during hearings, depositions, and trial preparation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates should possess a strong foundation in legal document drafting, formatting, and proofreading, demonstrating close attention to detail and accuracy in all written work.
• Experience: Required experience includes E-File proficiency and skill in managing case files, calendars, deadlines, and court filings effectively in both paper and electronic formats.
• Skills: Key skills involve utilizing legal research tools, conducting case law analysis, and summarizing medical records and other evidence. The role also requires effective client communication through phone, email, and in-person interactions, along with the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and collaborate successfully within a team.
• Bonus: A Paralegal certificate or degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related prior law firm or litigation experience is a plus. Knowledge of Michigan court procedures and rules is beneficial, alongside a commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice.
