This versatile Legal Assistant role is critical for providing comprehensive administrative, clerical, and secretarial support to attorneys and paralegals across both litigation and corporate practice areas. The position also ensures seamless operational coverage during other assistants’ absences, handling diverse tasks from legal document preparation to client communication.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative Operations: Manage daily office functions, including call screening, mail distribution, and comprehensive calendar and travel coordination for legal staff.
• Legal Document Production: Draft, edit, and meticulously format a wide array of legal documents, from standard correspondence to complex pleadings, ensuring adherence to firm standards and court rules.
• Financial & Records Management: Handle daily timekeeping, expense reporting, client invoicing workflows, and maintain organized physical and digital client matter files in compliance with records management protocols.
• Litigation Support: Oversee all aspects of court filings, including state and federal e-filing, physical submissions, critical deadline docketing, and coordination of depositions with external parties.
• Team Collaboration & Coverage: Provide crucial backup support for other legal assistants, actively participate in departmental initiatives, and assist with overflow work or special projects as required.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent required, coupled with proficiency in modern office workflows, record-keeping principles, and general legal terminology.
• Experience: A minimum of three years of prior legal assistant or secretarial experience.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook; net typing speed of 70+ WPM; exceptional command of English grammar, spelling, composition, and legal formatting; strong numeric and alphabetical filing skills; proven adaptability and organizational abilities.
• Bonus: Formal training in word processing or legal administration; experience with Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with legal document management systems such as iManage; proficiency with transcription software or equipment.
