The Tone:
This is a full-time, remote role at Plona Partners, an AmLaw100 firm supporting its Los Angeles office. This position is vital for ensuring the smooth operation of litigation, labor, and bankruptcy practice areas across the firm. The Docketing Specialist plays a crucial part in managing court filings, deadlines, and information flow, directly impacting the attorneys’ ability to provide excellent client service and navigate complex legal procedures effectively.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Filing: Manage court filings and document retrieval using digital platforms such as PACER and other court resources.
• Research: Conduct thorough searches and extract essential information from various court-related databases and websites.
• Service: Coordinate the efficient service of legal documents, including subpoenas and summons, utilizing firm-preferred process servers.
• Calendaring: Administer docketing and calendaring responsibilities using CourtAlert, providing timely notification to attorneys regarding upcoming dates.
• Compliance: Enforce department and firm policies related to all docketing matters and assist with department projects as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Foundational knowledge in legal administrative support, coupled with a thorough understanding of federal and state e-filing procedures, and local, state, and federal rules and codes of civil procedure.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and professionally with internal clients and all levels of firm personnel; practical experience with court-related databases and docketing systems like CourtAlert.
• Skills: Detail-oriented, extremely organized, excellent verbal and written communication, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
