Legal Administrative Specialist | United States Attorneys’ Offices
The Tone:
This is a federal civil service position at the United States Attorneys’ Offices, located in Dallas, TX. The Department of Justice and its United States Attorneys’ Offices represent the federal government in virtually all litigation involving the United States. This role is vital to a well-respected Civil Division team, providing critical technical and analytical assistance that supports the information management and litigation needs of the office.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Perform specialized legal research to support Affirmative Civil Enforcement and/or Defense work.
• eDiscovery: Utilize a variety of eDiscovery and Automated Legal Support software for collecting, analyzing, reviewing, and producing electronically stored information.
• Coordination: Coordinate with client agencies to ensure proper collection, review, preservation, and provision of electronically stored information to investigative teams.
• Litigation Support: Assist attorneys in pretrial preparations by organizing discovery, managing witnesses, and researching case law.
• Data Management: Assure documents are organized for efficient automated storage and retrieval by properly preparing and loading electronically stored information into discovery databases.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An academic degree in a related field such as Law, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or Business Administration. This includes either a bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement, one year of graduate-level education, or a Master’s, J.D., or LL.B. degree.
• Experience: At least one year of specialized experience in a legal support role, equivalent to federal GS-05 or GS-07 levels. This experience must include reviewing electronically stored information (ESI) for integrity, utilizing various eDiscovery and Automated Legal Support software (e.g., IPRO Eclipse SE, RELATIVITY), drafting legal correspondence and documents, and performing legal research and analysis. For higher levels, this also includes advising on eDiscovery methods and maintaining case files.
• Skills: Specialized legal research and analysis; proficiency with eDiscovery, Automated Legal Support, and legal research software; ESI data integrity evaluation; legal document and correspondence drafting; and comprehensive case information organization and management.
