What You’ll Actually Do
• Filing: Electronically file court documents, including pleadings, motions, and other legal submissions, accurately and on time.
• Liaison: Serve as an administrative liaison between the firm and court personnel, including clerks and other court staff.
• Compliance: Identify, interpret, and ensure compliance with all applicable court rules and procedures, monitoring changes and communicating updates.
• Training: Provide training and support to attorneys and staff on court procedures, e-filing protocols, and best practices.
• Resolution: Investigate, address, and resolve issues or discrepancies related to court filings and procedures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience, demonstrating a thorough understanding of court procedures and filing requirements.
• Experience: Minimum five years of experience as a court liaison or in a comparable role within a law firm or legal department, with experience in electronic court filing systems (e.g., PACER, CM/ECF).
• Skills: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational and time management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Bonus: Professional certifications, such as Certified Paralegal (CP).
