• Mission: Provides substantive procedural guidance to ensure compliance with court rules and accurate tracking of litigation deadlines.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Court Filings & Analysis: Assist with the comprehensive review, meticulous preparation, and accurate electronic filing of legal documents across federal, state, appellate, and bankruptcy courts, simultaneously analyzing court documents to identify all applicable deadlines.
• Procedural Guidance & Training: Provide critical guidance to legal staff and attorneys on court rules and litigation procedures, and collaborate with managing clerks to keep staff updated on changes, assisting with training.
• Quality Control & Team Oversight: Collaborate, manage, and oversee the quality control and work product of other staff members, providing necessary guidance to ensure efficiency, reduce redundancies, and maintain consistent docketing practices.
• External Liasion & Service Coordination: Act as a key liaison with court personnel and external vendors, coordinating the efficient service of legal documents, including subpoenas and notices.
• Document Drafting & Supervision Support: Draft legal procedural documents for attorney review and provide assistance with the supervision of MCO staff alongside the Managing Clerk and Managing Attorney.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree required; a strong professional background is essential for rendering substantive procedural guidance to attorneys and staff.
• Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required, demonstrating superior knowledge of New York, California, and federal rules of civil procedure.
• Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex legal procedures, strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to make sound decisions, and the proven capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Bonus: A JD or some law school coursework is preferred, along with strong electronic filing experience across various state and federal platforms and a deep understanding of procedural research.
