Associate – Strategy & Corporate Finance | McKinsey & Company

The Tone:

• Mission: To advise clients on top-management level issues including corporate strategy, M&A, and restructuring, helping them navigate complex market landscapes and achieve their goals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Gather and analyze information, then formulate, test, synthesize, and communicate recommendations to client leadership.
• Develop frameworks to analyze business problems using qualitative and quantitative approaches, including financial benchmarking and business modeling.
• Guide clients through the entire M&A lifecycle, taking ownership of key project workstreams such as commercial due diligence or post-merger integration.
• Collaborate closely with client teams to inspire engagement, build their capabilities, and drive lasting change through pragmatic actions.
• Contribute to the firm’s intellectual capital by codifying deal learnings, developing M&A frameworks, and supporting business development efforts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate or master’s degree combined with at least 4 years of post-undergraduate work experience.
• Experience: At least 2 years of strategy, corporate finance, M&A, or due diligence experience within a consulting firm, investment bank, accounting firm, or major corporation.
• Skills: Proficiency in financial analysis, including financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment, along with strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities.
• Bonus: Experience in corporate development, strategic finance, and merger integration is preferred.
