Associate, Investment Banking – Power, Utilities & Infrastructure | Moelis & Company

The Tone:
This is a full-time Associate role at Moelis & Company, located in New York City. Moelis & Company operates a financial advisory practice, specifically within the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure sector. This position is vital for supporting senior managers in both origination and execution activities, requiring individuals with intellectual curiosity, strong motivation, and analytical aptitude.

• Mission: Support senior managers in financial advisory activities, including origination and execution, for major corporations in the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure sector.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office suite (Excel a must)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Origination Support: Support senior managers by preparing historical and projected financial statements, analyzing financial implications of mergers and acquisitions, and conducting public & private valuation analysis for major corporations.
• Execution Management: Manage execution activities, including data gathering, analysis, material preparation, and preparing standard deal documentation.
• Valuation Model Building: Build and apply various valuation models based on financial research and analysis, including comparable company, discounted cash flow, and comparable acquisitions analysis.
• Approval Preparation: Prepare analytical materials to support necessary credit, compliance, engagement committee, and balance sheet approvals.
• Corporate & Portfolio Review: Conduct corporate operations reviews, portfolio analytic reviews, and prepare risk/return valuations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor Degree
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, along with strong financial reporting skills.
• Skills: Strong analytical and numerical skills, ability to perform well under pressure and against tight deadlines, and strong multi-tasking skills.
• Bonus: Undergraduate degree with a focus in finance, business, accounting, economics, or mathematics is preferred.
