Wholesale Strategy Analyst | Nomura

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Nomura, located in New York, NY. Nomura is a financial services group with an integrated global network that connects markets East & West, servicing individuals, institutions, corporates, and governments through its four business divisions. This role is pivotal within the regional and divisional strategy teams, shaping Nomura’s longer-term strategy for the Wholesale division. The Analyst will work directly with senior management across the businesses to determine the right strategy for reaching Nomura’s Wholesale aspirations in a rapidly changing market environment.

• Team: Americas Wholesale Strategy division, working closely with global and regional strategy team members, business heads, CAOs, finance, and other functional teams.
• Mission: This person supports key initiatives and a range of projects related to Americas and Global Wholesale, aiming to grow, improve profitability, and optimize business operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Work as part of the Americas Wholesale Strategy division on global, regional, and divisional projects.
• Strategic Analysis: Support senior strategy team members and business leaders on initiatives to assess the operating environment, formulate strategic options, and analyze competitive and macro factors for Wholesale businesses.
• Financial Review: Monitor and analyze quarterly financial results of competitors and evaluate in-organic growth opportunities through acquisition screening.
• Operational Improvement: Contribute to projects focused on business optimization, restructuring, and cost efficiency.
• Reporting & Presentation: Prepare high-quality presentations for senior management board meetings, town halls, and off-sites.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
• Experience: 0-3 years of experience in a consulting / strategy role.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, strong Excel skills, strong PowerPoint and presentation skills, high quality communication skills, attention to detail.
• Bonus: Experience covering the financial services sector, quick learner, ability to multi-task efficiently and meet project deadlines, deep interest in macroeconomics, global markets, and investment banking.
