Director of Corporate Development | CarterPierce, INC.

The Tone:
This is a full-time Director role within a rapidly growing private equity-backed portfolio company, operating in the business services sector. The company is focused on strategic acquisitions to expand its presence and market share. This Director of Corporate Development will be pivotal in initiating and leading the early-stage M&A process, directly contributing to the company’s growth objectives. The position offers a unique opportunity to shape the M&A strategy and evolve into a broader role as the company scales.

• Team: Collaborates with the M&A team and Private Equity Sponsor.
• Mission: Own and drive the early-stage M&A process to identify, engage, and secure compelling acquisition candidates for the portfolio company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• External Representation: Actively represent the firm externally, engaging founders and business owners to articulate the value proposition and enhance brand equity.
• Candidate Identification: Systematically identify compelling acquisition candidates and manage the initial evaluation process with the M&A team to determine actionability.
• Process Improvement: Track and continuously improve early-stage M&A systems and processes to drive acquisition volume and quality in line with annual objectives.
• Hands-On Execution: Execute hands-on M&A activities, operating as an individual contributor with substantial travel (5-10 days per month) initially.
• Role Evolution: Evolve into a broader role within the M&A team after a short period, expanding responsibilities across the entire M&A funnel.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced Professional with core domain knowledge in M&A, business services, and sales.
• Experience: 4-6+ years of M&A experience coupled with 4-6+ years of direct sales experience, preferably within an M&A or operational context.
• Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a strong inclination towards the sales and interpersonal aspects of M&A.
• Bonus: Direct deal origination experience is strongly preferred.
