Investment Banking Analyst – Financial Institutions | Oppenheimer & Co. Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., located in New York. Oppenheimer is a venerable middle-market investment bank and full-service broker-dealer, with a history dating back to 1881. The firm provides a comprehensive array of financial services, encompassing retail securities brokerage, institutional sales and trading, investment banking (both corporate and public finance), equity & fixed income research, market making, trust services, and investment advisory and asset management services. The Investment Banking Team is dedicated to offering in-depth industry knowledge and delivering innovative, market-based strategies to clients across major sectors. This Analyst role within the Financial Institutions Group is integral to providing expertise across strategic and financial matters, including capital raising, capital structure, mergers and acquisitions, and special situation advisory, ensuring a universal banking approach for high-growth, entrepreneurial, middle-market companies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare presentations and memoranda: Prepare various client, internal committee, management, and board presentations and memoranda for senior bankers as required.
• Execute transactions: Engage in direct client interaction and communication during transaction execution.
• Manage due diligence: Oversee and manage client due diligence processes.
• Conduct financial analysis: Perform extensive financial modeling and valuation.
• Analyze market trends: Assess relevant industry research and trends.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional with at least two years of experience in investment banking, primarily focused on Financial Institutions.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in investment banking, with a focus on Financial Institutions-related work.
• Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency, robust verbal and written communication abilities, elevated attention to detail and consistency in deliverables.
• Bonus: Preferred knowledge of Dealogic, CapIQ, Bloomberg, and the broader MS Office suite. Candidates will also be required to obtain Series 63, 79 FINRA licenses and the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam at the time of hiring or shortly thereafter. A strong work ethic, team-oriented approach, and proactive, organized disposition are also highly valued.
