UNPAID STUDENT INTERNSHIP | County of Riverside

This is an unpaid student internship at the County of Riverside, located in Riverside, CA. This role offers current undergraduate or graduate students the opportunity to gain supervised, practical work experience across diverse professional vocations, allowing them to apply academic knowledge and contribute meaningfully to county operations while developing essential career skills.

The TL;DR

• Team: Intern Pool, reporting to professional employees within various departments.
• Mission: To provide current undergraduate or graduate students with in-service training and practical experience through participation in actual duties assigned to professional employees.

What You’ll Actually Do
Support Operations: Assist and participate in the day-to-day assigned work of professional employees.
Conduct Research: Participate in special research, studies, surveys, and investigations, including the compilation, tabulation, and analysis of information and data.
Prepare Documentation: Assist in the preparation of briefs, reports, evaluations, specifications, and plans.
Contribute Insights: Attend divisional and departmental staff meetings, and prepare reports with suggestions and observations regarding department programs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current enrollment in, or recent graduation from (within one year), a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at an accredited college or university in a program relevant to a specific profession, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
• Experience: No prior professional work experience is required, as this internship is designed to provide supervised training and practical experience.
• Skills:
• Logical Thinking: Ability to think logically, compile data, perform arithmetical computations, and analyze statistical data to prepare reports.
• Communication: Ability to write clearly and concisely, and maintain cooperative relations with co-workers and the public.
• Learning Agility: Capacity to take direction, benefit, and learn rapidly from on-the-job training, and adapt to new responsibilities.
• Technical Aptitude: Knowledge of computer hardware and software as needed to accurately perform assigned duties.
