Process Automation Intern, Marine Operations | OOCL North America Group

The Tone:
This is an internship at OOCL North America Group, located in South Jordan, UT. OOCL is one of the world’s largest integrated international container transportation and logistics companies, known for providing customer-focused solutions, a quality-through-excellence approach, and continual innovation. This role is crucial for supporting the Marine Operations (MAROPS) team by improving planning processes and automation initiatives. The intern will directly contribute to operational efficiency and performance visibility within the maritime and logistics industry.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-time (minimum 20 hours/week); Temporary (minimum 12 weeks)
• Location: In-person, South Jordan, UT

• Team: Marine Operations (MAROPS) Department
• Mission: This person will assess automation opportunities, streamline data collection, and enhance KPI visibility for existing MOC (Marine Operations Center) planning and reporting processes.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, Power BI, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric

What You’ll Actually Do
• Review: Review existing MOC planning and reporting processes to identify automation opportunities.
• Modernize: Support the modernization of legacy tools (5–10 years old) through automation or optimization.
• Streamline: Assist in reducing manual email dependency by streamlining information intake and reporting methods.
• Centralize: Help centralize KPI monitoring and performance reporting systems.
• Enhance: Support data availability and accessibility for operational analysis and decision‑making.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student. Currently pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Operations, or a similar field, with an interest in process improvement, automation, and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Experience: Ability to work independently and manage project-based tasks.
• Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, Power BI, Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Bonus: Exposure to AI concepts or tools, curiosity and willingness to learn emerging technologies, Python, VBA.
