College Intern – Safety and Industrial Hygiene Programs | Salt River Project

The Tone:
This is an internship at Salt River Project, located in Tempe, Arizona, with a hybrid work option. SRP is one of the largest public power and water utilities in the U.S., providing electricity and water services to approximately one million customers in the greater Phoenix area. This role offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects, and contribute to SRP’s mission of delivering reliable, sustainable water and power services. Interns will develop technical and professional skills while exploring a future career with the company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, data entry, document preparation, filing, and other day-to-day administrative tasks.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Gather information, compile data, prepare reports, and help identify trends or opportunities to support departmental goals.
• Project Coordination: Support ongoing projects by coordinating tasks, tracking progress, and helping team members meet deadlines.
• Collaborative Contribution: Attend meetings, take notes, contribute ideas, and work collaboratively with employees across various departments.
• Learning and Presentation: Take on learning opportunities, complete assigned projects, and present findings or recommendations to supervisors as appropriate.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Experience: No specific years of professional experience are required; however, students with preferred areas of experience in safety, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, construction, or engineering are encouraged to apply.
• Skills: Administrative support, Data compilation, Project tracking, Collaborative teamwork, Presentation skills.
• Bonus: College-level coursework (100 or higher) from an accredited institution, or knowledge in accounting, general administrative principles, communications, marketing, personnel, finance, training, or business.
