E-Commerce Operations Intern | Aokani Home

The Tone:
This is an unpaid, part-time internship at Aokani Home, operating remotely. Aokani Home is a rapidly expanding furniture e-commerce brand dedicated to supporting international students and young renters throughout the United States. We aim to simplify the process of furnishing a home, offering products across major platforms like Amazon, Walmart, eBay, and our own Shopify store, all supported by our family’s furniture factory in China. This E-Commerce Operations Intern role is pivotal for actively managing our expanding product catalog, ensuring that every product is listed, organized, and live across all our sales channels efficiently. It offers a practical opportunity for individuals seeking comprehensive, end-to-end e-commerce experience within a compact and agile team, where contributions directly translate into tangible results.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Product Lifecycle Management: Manage product sourcing support, SPU/SKU setup, and the listing and delisting of items.
• Product Page Optimization: Build and optimize product pages, including titles, descriptions, specifications, and image layouts.
• Inventory and Pricing Control: Set product pricing and maintain synchronized inventory levels across all sales platforms.
• Data Management: Help organize bulk product uploads and manage catalog data using Excel.
• Operational Support: Support general store operations as the business expands.

The Must-Haves
• Background: We are looking for a currently enrolled student, particularly welcoming international students, who possesses an innate interest in the e-commerce landscape and the furniture/home goods sector. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, exceptionally organized, and comfortable performing precise, repetitive catalog management tasks to ensure accuracy.
• Experience: Applicants should have some foundational familiarity with e-commerce concepts and operations. Prior exposure to platforms such as Shopify, Amazon, or other online marketplaces is considered a significant advantage.
• Skills: Essential for this role is bilingual proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese, as we engage with suppliers in China and cater to a diverse, bilingual customer base. Candidates should also demonstrate an interest in “vibe coding” and no-code tools, alongside a strong willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
• Bonus: A solid understanding of or a genuine interest in the specific nuances of the furniture and home goods space will be beneficial for this position.
