Human Resources Assistant | Navy Region Hawaii Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive clerical and administrative support across a range of human resources activities and programs, ensuring adherence to local, CNIC, and DON policies and procedures.
• Recruitment Assistance: Prepare pre-employment packets, explain information and procedures to candidates, conduct employment information briefings, and monitor announcements to provide applicants with status and qualification details.
• Employee Onboarding: Assist or conduct new employee orientation, explain benefit provisions (health/life insurance, retirement, leave), facilitate completion of appointment forms, and aid in background investigation document preparation.
• Personnel Records Management: Process Requests for Personnel Actions (SF-52s), establish and maintain Official Personnel Folders (OPFs), audit vacancy case folders, and ensure accurate and timely input of staff time into Kronos.
• Inquiry Response & Data Management: Serve as a primary contact for applicants and employees, answering inquiries related to federal employment, job vacancies, application status, and benefit provisions, while also setting up and maintaining databases, spreadsheets, and centralized files.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current CNRH – Navy NAF employee on the island of Oahu. Possess foundational knowledge of standardized Human Resources rules, procedures, and operations specific to civilian personnel, understanding local, CNIC, and DON employment requirements for the Federal civil service.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience with office file arrangement and maintaining various HR records (e.g., OPFs), coupled with the ability to process personnel documents and utilize multiple automation systems for tasks like word processing, graphics, and spreadsheets.
• Skills: Ability to make decisions and resolve discrepancies based on human resources processing rules, effectively explain process and procedural matters orally, and accurately prepare correspondence and documents adhering to proper formats, punctuation, and grammar.
