Data Analyst (PCC), Emerging Talent Intern (Fall) | Metropolitan Transportation Authority

The Tone:
This is an Emerging Talent Internship at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, located in New York, NY. The MTA is a vital organization responsible for New York City Transit’s extensive subway system, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient public transportation across the city. This role specifically supports the Power Control Center, which manages critical power-related operations for the entire subway network. The intern’s contributions are crucial for enhancing data reporting, dashboarding, and internal information management, directly impacting the operational efficiency and safety of the transit system.

What You’ll Actually Do
Data Consolidation: Assist in reviewing existing Power BI reports to identify overlapping metrics and data sources, then support the consolidation of these into one centralized, dynamic dashboard with clear visuals, dynamic filtering, and consistent reporting logic.
AI Insights Development: Support the AI Insights proof-of-concept project by organizing use cases, identifying relevant data sources, documenting sample questions, expected outputs, and testing results, and helping to test its functionality.
SharePoint Standardization: Review the current SharePoint site to recommend and assist with implementing improvements to folder structures, naming conventions, document libraries, and overall access layout to enhance document management and team collaboration.
Documentation & Training: Assist with creating user-friendly documentation, process guides, and standard operating procedures for the newly developed dashboards, SharePoint usage, and AI Insights workflows to ensure consistency and ease of use.
Data Validation & Records Management: Help validate data accuracy across various databases, reports, and source systems, and support basic records management tasks including filing, organizing, and maintaining departmental documents as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least a 2.8 GPA, pursuing a major in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Skills: Organizational skills, analytical skills, communication skills, ability to work well under pressure, effective task prioritization, keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently while being an active team player.
